ISEC Plans Spring Conference

The Illinois Student Environmental Coalition has opened registration for their spring conference in Springfield.

The conference is intended to teach students about the legislative process. Participants will be given the chance to watch a session in progress, tour the capitol building, and meet one-on-one with state legislators. It will be held on March 30th from 8:30-4:00. There will also be an optional dinner reception and training session on the night of March 29th.

Interested students can register on ISEC’s website. The cost for the conference (including lunch) is $30. The cost for both days (including dinner, lunch, and overnight accommodations) is $75.

ISEC Hosts Green Career Panel

Interested in a “green” career? Join ISEC for a panel discussion on jobs in sectors such as environmental law, policy, engineering, and sustainable development. Experts from the various fields will be there to discuss their experiences.

The panel will be held at Loyola University’s School of Law (25 East Pearson, Room 1102) on February 3rd. The panel starts at 5:30PM and is scheduled to run until 7PM.  A list of attendees is below.

ISEC Seeking Interns!

The Illinois Student Environmental Conference is looking for two new interns for next semester. It’s a paid position that requires a commitment of 10-20 hours a week.

Responsibilities include writing a weekly newsletter, updating and maintaining the website, research, and campus outreach. The intern will also assist in coordinating and executing a statewide conference in Springfield, IL and working with the director to coordinate and implement a statewide awareness campaign concerning environmental issues.

Candidates should have strong academic records, excellent oral communication, organizational, and writing skills, as well as a demonstrated interest in environmental advocacy. Experience with web design and knowledge of WordPress is a plus.
